UPDATE OHA Budget Hearings and CHEC Reminders

March 27, 2023 @ 8:00 am - 9:00 am

There has been a change in budget hearing dates. Currently, these dates are tentatively scheduled for March 24th and 27th at 8AM! We need to show up and rally support for this funding request. There is strength in numbers! CBOs and LPHAs were literally the lifelines to members of our community throughout the pandemic, and it is important that we remind legislators of this through testimony / story sharing. Thank you to all who had completed the past survey. However, we have updated the survey to reflect the new current tentative dates, so please revisit the new survey link to complete at your earliest convenience, thank you! https://creatingops.typeform.com/CHEC03v2
We are also coordinating testimony line-ups with OHA

Action Items:
We need to submit written testimony on behalf of CHEC, and we can use our introduction letter as a basis for this. If you want to draft it please reply via email (please do not “reply all” to this email)
Each CBO should submit their own written testimony asking for this investment that is over and above what is in the current budget bill.
Provide verbal testimony at the OHA Budget Hearings
Schedule visits with members of the Human Services Ways & Means Committee
Email members of the Human Services Ways & Means Committee

Messaging: You are encouraged to mention that your organization is a member of the Community Health Equity Coalition made up of more than 70 community-based organizations responding to the public health needs of more than 500,000 marginalized Oregonians across the state. Most importantly, share a compelling story about the positive difference your organization made through your public health equity / COVID Work, and indicate that additional funding would allow OHA to further leverage the strength of this diverse network of CBOs who are critical to the health and vitality of all Oregonians, especially those who often endure inequities.
